Covid-19 Design Challenge
On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared Covid-19 a pandemic. Immediately thereafter, a collaboration spearheaded by World Design Organization, IBM Design, and Design for America (DFA), the COVID-19 Design Challenge mobilized the global design community to address some of the most urgent and important challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
180 challenge topics. 225 designers. 21 teams. 33 countries. 12 time zones.
Play&Co’s founder, Brendan, contributed to a rapid 2-week sprint that applied IBM’s Enterprise Design Thinking approach to frame problem statements, form design teams around them, and rapidly research, conceptualize and prototype designed solutions.
Our concept, Postcards for Isolated Elders, sought to foster rich connections between isolated elders and their broader communities while reinforcing the importance of physical distancing and safe hygiene practices.
